Dressed in an asymmetrical, floor-length number by Jaime Olinan and toting a clutch bag on her left hand, Alyssa wears LVNA in the most elegant fashion, styled by Miss Keith—rivaling many with her exhilarating charm. Baring her tanned left shoulder and accentuating her curves, Alyssa wears a tight updo styled by @hairby.fajel and neutral makeup by Muriel Vega Perez, with dangling earrings to signify her beauty as a successful career woman in the sports industry.

She was made captain of the indoor Lady Eagles side, avenging their defeat to the De La Salle University Lady Spikers, eventually succeeding as champions of the season. Furthermore, in the 2014-2015 season, she represented the Philippines at the 2014 ASEAN University Games, winning a bronze medal: the first international medal for a Filipino team in nine years, which is an astonishing feat. In fact, Alyssa top-scored, with 18 points at the University Games; and later on, at the UAAP games, she won Season MVP, Best Server, and Best Scorer, with the team winning a perfect 16-0 record for the year. Alyssa has likewise experienced traveling the world and playing for international teams, such as the Thai side 3BB Nakornnont in 2016 as well as Attack Line, a team in Chinese Taipei, in 2017. However, she would return to the Philippines to play in the Premier Volleyball League, with the Creamline Cool Smashers.

The Vogue Gala was an event to remember—such as Alyssa Valdez’s bewildering accomplishments as a volleyball player throughout many seasons. The “Refresh & Rewear” theme was worn to the nines, and she proved to audiences that she is not simply a team player, but a shining star on her own—a true champion, flitting through seasons such as readers leaf through the pages of the “first season” of Vogue Philippines thus far. Similar to Vogue, Alyssa has had her share of hurdles, to prove herself as a household name;—however, she has proven her ubiquity through her appearances on television and in competitions across the world.

It was a night of luxury and relaxation, with lavish furniture from Fendi Casa adorning the venue. Whereas Alyssa has encountered the struggles of perseverance through her involvement in the world of sports, tonight was a night of alleviation—sitting amongst some of the most renowned names in the Philippines, such as herself, and celebrating some of the country’s biggest achievements. The Gala exhibited a more “intimate and personal” approach to the typical, high-class event—with decorations and atmosphere selected with care; for instance, vintage suitcases, velvet loveseats, expedition books, and antique-inspired trinkets were seen at the venue for this event. Such choices made for a more intimate party, where everyone was welcome and invited, including those from other industries aside from show business, which was a great decision, given that Vogue Philippines has consistently curated its cover stories and articles based on the Filipino as a whole.
Diversity is an important part of any great event, and Vogue delivered. Alyssa Valdez showed up in absolute style, and she impressed the entire country—not only with her achievements as an A-list volleyball star—but as a woman of wondrous sophistication.
